Frequently Asked Questions
1. About Homebody
1.1 What is Homebody?
Homebody is a real, evidence-informed support service for parents navigating the early stages of parenting. Created by Amber Webster—Registered Nurse, Counsellor, Postpartum Doula, and NDC Accredited Practitioner—Homebody combines therapeutic support, infant care education, and emotional grounding in one place.
Our services are rooted in science and shaped by lived experience. We don’t do perfection. We do presence, connection, and care that actually helps.
1.2 Who do you support?
We support parents and caregivers in the postpartum period and beyond—including first-time parents, seasoned parents, solo parents, same-sex couples, and blended families. If you’re in the thick of parenting and need calm, expert, grounded support—we’re here for you.
2. In-Home Sessions
2.1 What’s included in a 4-hour in-home session?
Each session is tailored to your needs, but support may include:
Feeding support (breast, bottle, mixed feeding)
Infant sleep education using a no-sleep-training, responsive care approach
Settling strategies and understanding your baby’s cues
Emotional support and therapeutic conversation
Postpartum recovery guidance
Parent-infant bonding support
Help managing the mental load and daily rhythms
A calm, non-judgemental presence to hold the emotional weight of it all
You'll also receive a pre-visit questionnaire to help tailor the session to your priorities.
2.2 Where do you offer in-home visits?
We offer in-home support across Sydney’s Inner West and nearby suburbs. If you live outside this zone, get in touch—we’ll let you know if a visit is possible or if online support may be more suitable. A travel fee may apply.
2.3 Are the sessions clinical or medical?
No. While Amber is a Registered Nurse, the care provided through Homebody is non-clinical, non-diagnostic, and non-emergency. We don’t offer medical treatments, wound care, or prescriptions. If you're unsure whether your needs fall within our scope, feel free to ask.
3. Scope of Support
3.1 Can you help with feeding and sleep challenges?
Yes. We specialise in feeding support and infant sleep education using Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC)—a responsive, developmentally informed approach. That means no sleep training, no rigid routines, and no pressure. Just guidance that aligns with your baby’s nervous system, attachment needs, and your family’s values.
3.2 Do you offer support for emotional wellbeing?
Yes. We hold space for the big, messy emotional shifts of early parenthood—including identity changes, relationship tensions, birth debriefing, and mental load overwhelm. Our therapeutic support is not a substitute for formal mental health care but can be a powerful complement to it.
3.3 Can you refer me to other professionals if needed?
Absolutely. If your needs fall outside our scope, we can connect you with trusted professionals including:
GPs and paediatricians
Lactation consultants (IBCLCs)
Psychologists and perinatal mental health clinicians
Allied health professionals (e.g., physios, OTs, speech therapists)
Referrals are always discussed with you first.
4. Digital Products: Journals + Guides
4.1 How do I access my journal or guide?
Once you complete your purchase, you’ll receive a download link directly to your email. Downloads are typically instant—if you don’t see it, check your junk/spam folder or get in touch.
4.2 Can I share my downloaded journal with a friend?
No—digital products are for individual use only. They are protected by copyright and cannot be copied, shared, or redistributed. If someone you know would benefit, please direct them to the Homebody website to purchase their own copy.
4.3 What’s your refund policy for digital products?
Due to the nature of digital downloads, all sales are final. If you’re having trouble accessing your file or received the wrong product by mistake, contact us and we’ll resolve it ASAP.
5. Bookings + Admin
5.1 How do I book a session?
Head to the Bookings page on our website, choose your preferred date, and complete the short intake process. You’ll get a confirmation email and follow-up instructions before your session.
5.2 What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance: no charge.
Cancellations made within 24–48 hours: 50% cancellation fee.
Less than 24 hours' notice or no-show: full fee applies.
We understand parenting is unpredictable—if you need to reschedule due to illness or urgent family needs, let us know as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
5.3 Do you offer ongoing or package support?
Currently, sessions are booked individually, but you’re welcome to book repeat visits or create a rhythm that works for your family. We also offer digital tools to support you between sessions.
6. Workshops + Group Offerings
6.1 Do you run group programs or workshops?
Yes—workshops and small group offerings will be listed on our website when available. These may include themes like postpartum adjustment, feeding and sleep support, emotional resilience, and identity transitions.
6.2 Can I book a private group workshop?
Occasionally, yes. If you’re part of a parent group or community that would benefit from a tailored session, reach out and we can chat about options.
